Often you will reach out due to anxiety or behavioural challenges, this in my experience is often a nervous system regulation response, the body gets stuck in a fear response which also makes the rest digest process does not function effectively. I focus on regulation with a number of beautiful soothing techniques, (all if you are ok with them) things like a massage on their feet and wrists with essential oil, gentle rocking of their body, massage their neck, increasing the vagal tone (which is one of our body's automatic responses to help us rest and digest).
